BLACK MUSIC HERSTORY
Licensing & Editorial Use
Inquiries about using original Black Music Herstory® content, the BMH identity, or developing an authorized cultural collaboration.
THE APPROACH
Share the Work. Credit the Source.
Black Music Herstory® welcomes educators, publishers, researchers, media producers, cultural institutions, and creators who wish to reference its editorial work, reuse original content, or explore an officially associated cultural project.
Clear permission pathways support accurate attribution and preserve editorial context as BMH features, interviews, multimedia projects, and other cultural materials reach audiences across global music markets.
WAYS TO WORK WITH BMH CONTENT
What Are You Planning?
01
Cite & Reference
Link to or cite public BMH features with appropriate credit. Ordinary references, factual reporting, and uses permitted by applicable law do not automatically require BMH authorization.
02
Reuse & Adapt
For reproduction, adaptation, republication, or distribution of BMH-owned articles, interviews, audio, or video, describe the specific material and intended use in a permissions inquiry.
03
Brand & Collaborate
Officially BMH-branded educational events, cultural programs, interviews, or multimedia productions need BMH authorization to use the Black Music Herstory® identity. Share the format, intended association, and audience.
EDITORIAL STEWARDSHIP
Credit Matters. Context Matters.
BMH features may include photographs, recordings, and archival materials owned by others. Permission to use BMH-owned work does not include those separate rights. Responsible use acknowledges contributors, preserves context, and respects the communities and professionals whose Herstories are presented.
INQUIRIES
Tell BMH What You Have in Mind
Share which BMH content you wish to use, or how you propose to use the Black Music Herstory® identity for programming, publishing, or multimedia work. Include the format, audience, distribution, and approximate timeframe. Early-stage questions are welcome.
